Once You Arrive in Vancouver
There are several options to go between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and downtown Vancouver, including scheduled coach transfers, limousine, taxi, car rentals and transit. For more information visit the Tourism Vancouver Tourist info Centre located at the International and Domestic Terminal.
The Airporter Shuttle Bus is $12 one way or $18 round-trip. It goes to all the major downtown Vancouver hotels, the cruise ship terminal and the inter-city bus depot. It's a comfortable bus that leaves every 15 minutes (06:30 to 00:10 hours) from the airport's two arrival levels. You can buy a ticket on the bus at the Tourist info Centre at the Airport.
Vancouver's downtown is easily explored on foot. The fastest, most efficient form of local transport is the Sky Train, but its destinations are limited. The local bus network is extensive, but services are slow, stop running around midnight, and tend to be confusing for visitors. The SeaBus makes the scenic journey to the North Shore, while useful private ferries ply the waters of False Creek. Taxis are affordable and numerous. Destinations further afield are reached by Greyhound buses and BC Ferries. Long waits for the latter are frequent in summer. Car rental is unnecessary to explore the city of Vancouver except for longer excursions.
