  Kayaking Vancouver Island

Home > Kayak Vancouver Island

Sea kayaking the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. Our kayak tours of Vancouver Island offer scheduled departures in seven locations, from the Mediterranean-like Gulf Islands, to the wilds of Johnstone Strait, where you can kayak with Orcas, or "killer whales". Further north lie the Queen Charlotte Islands. As the only part of Canada that escaped the last Ice Age, kayaking the Queen Charlotte Islands brings to light a flora and fauna dramatically different from those of the mainland.

Queen Charlotte Islands Kayaking. Remoteness, coupled with the lure of this pristine land and aboriginal culture combine to make this archipelago a kayaker's wilderness paradise.

Queen Charlotte Strait Kayaking. Lying off northeast tip of Vancouver Island, this area includes Broughton Archipelago, a region noted for its rich aboriginal habitation, fjord-like inlets, tiny islands and Orcas.

Johnstone Strait Kayaking. The top of Johnstone Strait and the bottom of Queen Charlotte Strait are the most popular areas for those who want to kayak with whales. The area offers diverse opportunities for sea kayaking including intricate and remote island archipelagos, refuge bays and deep fjords.

Gulf Islands Kayaking. Offering warm temperatures and short distances between the islands, and a close proximity to Victoria and Vancouver, the Gulf Islands are a unique archipelago of 250 islands situated on the south east coast of Vancouver Island.

Nootka Sound Kayaking. One of the most remote and rugged areas to kayak on the west coast of Canada, this area features deep wilderness of the northwest coast: its remote beaches, dense rainforests and the lingering presence of aboriginal culture.

Clayoquot Sound Kayaking. Located on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, in the Pacific Rim region, this rugged stretch of coastline is known for fjords, islands, mountains, old growth forests and the colourful town of Tofino.

Broken Group Island Kayaking. Facing the Pacific Ocean, on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, the islands are a maze of pocket beaches, exposed reefs, lagoons, densely forested islands and bare, windswept rocks.

Victoria and South Island Kayaking. Great kayak opportunities abound near BC's "Garden City" on the southeast tip of Vancouver Island. We provide kayak tours of the Inner Harbour, and the waters surrounding Discovery Island Marine Park.
