Travel past stunning lakes, through the coastal rain forest and the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon into the vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. Visit the Gold Pan City of Quesnel, journey through the Rocky Mountain Trench, be awestruck by spectacular Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 metres tall, and finish off in the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, Jasper National Park.

Rainforest to Gold Rush Itinerary

Day 1. Quesnel

From Whistler, journey through the beautiful Coastal Mountains and pass through Lillooet, a town famous for its' jade and gold rush. Your journey continues south through breathtaking and varied scenery, from the the arid Fraser Canyon to the crossing of Deep Creek Bridge, one of the highest railway bridges in the world, and along the winding shorelines of glacial-fed Seton Lake and Anderson Lake. Arrive in the rural town of Quesnel, in the heart of BC's Northern Interior, and gateway to the North Cariboo.

Day 2. Jasper

Travel on board the Rocky Mountaineer from Quesnel through the forests of northern British Columbia, home to a large wildlife population including moose, deer, cougars, black bears and grizzly bears. End your journey in Jasper, a small town nestled in the largest national park in Canada. Highlights include the Rocky Mountain Trench, Mount Robson, which at 3954 metres is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Moose Lake with its' pristine crystal clear waters, and the Fraser River, once a main thoroughfare for gold rush prospectors. Your train journey concludes upon arrival in Jasper.
